Shortened Shopping Season
Thursday, November 21, 2019
The date of Thanksgiving changes each year while Christmas remains
the same, resulting in the fluctuation of length of time between the two
holidays. Last year, Thanksgiving fell on the earliest possible date, the 22nd.
This year it’s falling on the 28th, the latest possible date. So what does this mean for your retail and
shopping? A dramatically shortened holiday season leaving less time for
customers to shop!
While stores are painfully aware of the six day decrease in
the holiday season, most people don’t realize they’re on a time crunch. Try
some of these tricks to combat the shortened shopping season.
· Start sales early – don’t wait until Black
Friday to begin advertising your holiday deals. By having a sale before
Thanksgiving, customers can feel like they’re getting a jump on their shopping!
· Consider scattering promotions throughout the
season. Tailor different days or weekends to various products. This way, a wide
range of customers will be enticed to come in throughout the whole holiday
season. Even more, consumers often purchase additional items than the one they
came in for.
·Draw attention to your eCommerce capabilities.
Online shopping during the holidays is anticipated to go up 14.1% over last
Even though the shopping season is short, with these few
tips you can still have the best season yet!
